Bush backs Bement to head science agency

A metallurgist, Ardent Bement has a strong track record in industry, government and academic world and is nominated to serve as a director of National Science Foundation. The foundation is responding to the needs of science regardless of administration. Bement is currently a director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

US reveals physics wish-list in bid for scientific frontier

The Department of Energy announced a list of 28 scientific facilities that it wants to build in the next twenty years. But the department's Office of Science seems to have doubt whether it can raise the billions of dollars needed to complete the projects.
