Cell cycle control of centromeric repeat transcription and heterochromatin assembly

Article Abstract:

The dynamics of heterochromatin assembly during the cell cycle control of centromeric repeat transcription and its impact on transcription of RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) are discussed. The findings show that such processes highly facilitate the maintenance of heterochromatin by successive cell divisions.

Structural basis for transcription elongation by bacterial RNA polymerase

Article Abstract:

Structure of Thermus thermophilus DNA-dependent RNA polymerase elongation complex at 2.5-Angstrom resolution is reported, which reveals that post-translocated intermediate with DNA template in the active site is available from pairing with the substrate.

RNA-interference-directed chromatin modification coupled to RNA polymerase II transcription

Article Abstract:

In fission yeast (Schizosaccharo-myces pombe), chromatin modifications are only directed by RNA interference if the homologous DNA sequences are transcribed. RNA interference-directed chromatin modification is coupled to transcription.
