Chromosomal landscape of nucleosome-dependent gene expression and silencing in yeast

Article Abstract:

High-density arrays were used to study the effects of depleting nucleosomal histones and silencing factors in yeast. The results suggest that histones make Sir-independent contributions to telomeric silencing, and the role of other histones in other locations in chromosomes is gene specific.

Transcriptional regulatory code of a eukaryotic genome

Article Abstract:

DNA-binding transcriptional regulators interpret the genome's regulatory code by binding to specific sequences to induce or repress gene expression. Further, the organization of regulatory elements in promoters and the environment-dependent use of these elements by regulators are discussed.

Redundant roles for the TFIID and SAGA complexes in global transcription

Article Abstract:

There are distinct requirements for specific subunits of the transcription factors SAGA and TFIID in global expression. In the case of the subunits Gcn5 and TAF(sub II)145, the function of one subunit can compensate for the loss of the other.
