Coexisting with the 104th Congress

Article Abstract:

Republican domination of the 104th US Congress is not expected to bode well for the animal rights movement. However, animal welfare lobbyists can look forward to gains from championing non-partisan issues, such as the pets and housing bill, the canned hunt bill and the horse transportation bill.

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning the advertising campaigns of animal rights activists are discussed. The use of billboards, television, radio and press by animal rights campaigners in Michigan to protest against circuses, the fur trade and animal research laboratories is described.

Issues are presented concerning the action which has been taken against the toxicology laboratory Huntingdon Life Sciences by animal rights campaigners. The company has been exposed 5 times for scientific misconduct and the mistreatment of animals.
