Globins in the brain

Article Abstract:

The discovery is reported of a third type of globin, named 'neuroglobin', which is found in the nervous system of mammals and which is thought to increase the oxygen availability to the nerve tissue.

Netrin-1-mediated axon outgrowth and cAMP production requires interaction with adenosine A2b receptor

Article Abstract:

DCC (deleted in colorectal cancer) protein is found to interact with the membrane-associated adenosine A2b receptor, which is actually a netrin-1 receptor.

A vertebrate globin expressed in the brain

A third type of globin, called neuroglobin, is reported. The protein is mainly found in the brain and increases oxygen availability to the nerve tissues.
