Composition changes in a subandean avifauna after long-term forest fragmentation

Article Abstract:

Research presented concerns the effects of human-caused forest fragmentation on bird biodiversity and population density in the subandean region of Latin America. Findings include the level of species loss over a 50-90 year period, the contemporary species composition in the forest, and research to aid the restoration of local bird populations.

Designing a coherent ecological network for large mammals in northwestern Europe

Article Abstract:

The only way to counteract the threat of further decline in the numbers of large-mammal species is to restore their habitats. Areas have been identified that although they currently do not contain any red deer, have the potential to support a minimum viable population of this species.

Effects of fragmentation of Araucarian vine forest on small mammal communities

Article Abstract:

Habitat loss and fragmentation are the major threats to the survival of forest-dependent fauna. The abundance of small mammal species in forests, corridors, remnants of Araucarian vine forest, and Araucaria cunninghamii plantations and pastures is examined.
