Display of flexibility

Article Abstract:

Physicists from the Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge, the UK, are leading a revolution in making flexible displays with organic circuitry laid out on bendable plastic, which will provide words where they are needed. Plastic Logic, a company founded by two physicists from the laboratory, is hoping to create a new market for flexible, lightweight screens that can be carried about and read on the bus or train.

Video-speed electronic paper based on electrowetting

Article Abstract:

Use of electro wetting technology for the rapid manipulation of liquids on a micrometre scale for fabrication of electronic paper is analyzed. Electrowetting used to form the basis of a reflective display is demonstrated, as it is significantly faster than electrophoretic displays.

Flexible active-matrix electronic ink display

Article Abstract:

Fabrication of electronic display on a bendable active-matrix-array sheet is explained. 0.4 mm thin, inflexible liquid-crystal displays on plastic are made using a diode-matrix array and an amorphous-silicon, thin film transistor (TFT).
