Short-term regulation of food-provisioning rate and effect on prey size in blue tits, Parus caeruleus

Article Abstract:

Research describing the parental provisioning rate of blue tits in response to chick begging behavior is presented. It is shown that parents monitor the begging calls and adjust the feeding rate and prey size accordingly.

Effects of photoperiod on memory and food storing in captive marsh tits, Parus palustris

Article Abstract:

The food storing behavior of captive marsh tits was studied by altering photoperiod and temperature. The results showed that marsh tits exposed to the altered photoperiod and temperature exhibited abnormal food storing behavior than those not exposed to such alterations. The results suggest that the effects of photoperiod are limited to the marsh tits' spatial memory.
