The yields of rice which feeds more than half the people in the world are leveling out, as the demand for it is increasing rapidly with the growing population. No solutions have been found, despite the efforts on a variety of fronts, for improved nutrition and growth.

The arrangement of the leaves and seeds occurs in Fibonacci series in many plant organs. Leaves originate at the tips of growing shoots in a self- renewing region known as shoot apical meristem.
