Article Abstract:

Charities have started operating like venture capitalists by absorbing some of the early financial risks involved in developing new drugs to increase the odds that a company would take on a small disease such as Cystic Fibrosis. Mapping complex disease loci in whole-genome association studies

Article Abstract:

Development of diagnostics and therapeutics will be aided by identification of the genetic polymorphisms that contribute to susceptibility for common disease such as type 2 diabetes and schizophrenia. An attempt is made to focus on the technique of genetic linkage, making whole-genome association studies more feasible enabling for dissecting the genetics of common disease.
