US National Science Foundation has awarded Alan T. Waterman, a sociologist at New York University, for its specialization in the detailed study of economic outcomes among underprivileged groups. Research agencies in the United States are supporting more social scientists like him as their work could potentially make a valuable contribution to the study of important societal problems.
