Multiple Authorship

Article Abstract:

Since 1975, the number of authors contributing to papers published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) has increased and this is mostly due to greater participation by professors and department chairs. Researchers analyzed the authorship of articles published in BMJ in 1975, 1980, 1985, 1990 and 1995. While the number of articles decreased over the 20-year period, the average number of authors per article increased from 3.2 to 4.5. As a percentage of total authors, professors increased from 13.2% to 2O.3%. In 1995, 17% of the first authors were professors, compared to 8% in 1975.

In retrospect

Article Abstract:

Fred Hoyle's book 'Frontiers of Astronomy,' which was published in 1955, has exerted considerable influence over approaches to astronomy in the UK. It emphasizes the fact that astronomers are in many ways helpless. Hoyle regards this as a source of pleasure, and welcomes the fact that astronomers cannot do anything to change the Universe. The book tells of the great variety of the Universe, and focuses on its strange aspects and mysteries. Many of these mysteries have still not been solved by astronomers.

Big fun in North Florida: little towns have weird names, oysters come by the dozens and the beer flows like wine

Article Abstract:

This area is very hot most of the year so it is best to visit in the spring or fall. Then even swimming in the bay is quite comfortable. Some of the amenities offered by this part of Florida include beaches, oyster bars and other seafood restaurants, state parks, and condos and cottages for rent.
