In vitro reprogramming of fibroblasts into a pluripotent ES-cell-like state

Article Abstract:

The study presents an in vitro reprogramming of the fibroblasts to a pluripotent embryonic stem (ES)-cell-like state, which can then be used for patient-specific cell treatment. The analysis shows that the cells derived like this can form viable chimaeras and can also significantly contribute to the germ line.

Double chromodomains cooperate to recognize the methylated histone H3 tail

Article Abstract:

Chromodomains are modules implicated in the recognition of lysine-methylated histone tails and nucleic acids. Deletion of chromodomains impairs nucleosome binding and remodelling by CHD proteins however H3 tails, the two chromodomains of CHD1 cooperates to interact with one methylated H3 tail.

Control of DNA methylation and heterochromatic silencing by histone H2B deubiquitination

Article Abstract:

The study shows that histone H2B deubiquitination can be easily used to control the methylation of DNA, as well as the heterochromatic silencing and modifications.
