Does recreational hunting of lynx reduce depredation losses of domestic sheep?

Article Abstract:

The relationship between annual changes in lamb losses and lynx hunting on two scales are analyzed. The data shows that lynx hunting only reduces depredators when it reduces the size of the population.

Vulnerability of domestic sheep to lynx depredation in relation to roe deer density

Article Abstract:

Researchers have examined whether the higher kill rates by male lynx (Lynx lynx) than female lynx are related to an association between the availability of the main natural prey, as measured by roe deer habitat suitability, presence of sheep and habitat selection of male and female lynx. The management practice separating lynx and sheep, such as concentrating livestock into small patches, might reduce depredation.
