Land Trusts and Conservation Easements: Who Is Conserving What for Whom?

Article Abstract:

The article emphasizes the absence of literature regarding the effects of land trusts on conservation, specifically as to which species are protected, which are not, resultant land patterns, types of landowners and institutions holding the easements, and distributions of costs and benefits. A call is made for more research, including an analysis of the tension inherent in public-private collaborations.
