Linnaeus in the information age

Article Abstract:

The celebration of Carl Linnaeus's achievements is a proper time for thinking about how modern taxonomy is related to the rest of biology and how this relationship might evolve in the information age. Linnaeus initiated the solution to the first bioinformatics crisis like organizing knowledge about the increasing number of species that were being discovered during the age of exploration.

The love of plants

Article Abstract:

Carl Linnaeus's use of the sexual system of plants facilitated him in recruiting a global network of specimen collectors. Plant taxonomy has undergone numerous changes since Linnaeus put the natural system on the map, however in 2007, the tercentenary of Linnaeus's birth, the quest for the natural system is still continuing.

The legacy of Linnaeus

Article Abstract:

Carl Linnaeus assayed a universal classification of all creation, animal, vegetable and mineral and he stressed on the concept of species. The legacy of Carl Linnaeus on taxonomy and classification are described.
