Molecular-wire behaviour in p-phenylenevinylene oligomers
Article Abstract:
A family of donor-bridge-acceptor (DBA) molecules have been produced using oligomers of PPV as the conducting bridging motif. The photoinduced charge separation is found to be weakly distance dependent, suggested the operation of the unsaturated bridge as an incoherent molecular wire. The critical role of the energy gap for donor-to-bridge charge injection in promoting molecular wire behaviour in DBA molecules is confirmed.

The dynamics of partially extended single molecules of DNA
Article Abstract:
Scientists have discovered that deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) motion occurs in linearly independent normal modes of polymer dynamics. Measurements of partially-extended single molecules of DNA were used to demonstrate the mode of motion. A table of normal-mode system eigenstates is given.

Direct measurement of hole transport dynamics in DNA
Article Abstract:
Research is presented concerning the spectroscopic measurement of photoinduced electron transfer for hole transport in synthetic DNA. The speed of distance-dependent electron transfer in DNA is discussed.
