Political deadlock leaves scientists frustrated

Article Abstract:

Germany's political parties struggle to set up a new government, as a result, scientists are left with little hope for more flexible regulations on stem-cell and biotechnology research. Many scientists in Germany believe that a two party government would be unlikely to produce any radical science polices as support for specific directions in science becomes a cross-party question.

Carbon market survives gas leaks

Article Abstract:

European Commission website listed verified data on carbon dioxide emissions from thousands of large companies on May 15, 2006. As reports spread that power producers and other energy-intensive European industries were sitting on unused allowanced for 60 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emission, the price permits that allow for extra emission dropped by nearly a third.
