Rab23 is an essential negative regulator of the mouse Sonic hedgehog signalling pathway

Article Abstract:

Research describing the role of the vesicle transport protein Rab23 is presented. In particular its association with the mouse open brain and sonic hedgehog genes is investigated.

Hedgehog signalling in the mouse requires intraflagellar transport proteins

Article Abstract:

Results show that intraflagellar transport proteins, Wim, Polaris, and the motor protein Kif3a are essential for Hedgehog signalling as shown by gene mutational studies in mice. Data indicate that disruption of genes of the intraflagellar transport proteins affect signal transduction.

Regulated nuclear import of Rel proteins in the Drosphila immune response

Article Abstract:

The immune response of the Drosphila is similar to the mammalian innate response system. The Dif and Dorsal proteins move from the cytoplasm into the fat-body cells. The Toll signalling pathway controls the nuclear import of the Dorsal protein but research has shown that the Toll pathway is not needed for the import of Dif. The import of Dif and Dorsal results in the degradation of cactus protein therefore is it likely that there are two pathways which can distinguish between Dorsal and Dif. Mutations of three new genes have been identified.
