Rapid communication: genetic linkage mapping of the porcine cocaine- and amphetamine-regulated transcript (CART) gene

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the genetic linkage mapping of the porcine cocaine- and amphetamine-regulated transcript gene. In line with this, primers were utilized to amplify a fragment of the porcine CART gene spanning exons 1 and 2. The polymerase chain reaction amplification was then carried out using 12.5 ng of porcine genomic DNA. In addition, autosomal Mendelian segregation was monitored in three three-generation European PiGMaP families.

Rapid communication: mapping of the titin (TTN) gene to pig chromosome 15

Article Abstract:

Titin, a common muscle protein that has been termed the giant protein of vertebrate striated muscle, has been mapped to chromosome 15 in pigs. Topics discussed include the source and description of primers, primer sequences, method of detection, description of polymorphism, pattern of inheritance, allele frequencies, and chromosomal location.

Rapid communication: Mapping and genetic analysis of porcine FOSB

Article Abstract:

This article exmines genetic differences of FOSB gene in swine breeds differentiated as sire and maternal breeds. Results indicate that there is no allelic association between swine breeds analyzed.
