Regulation of an extrathymic T-cell development pathway by oncostatin M

Article Abstract:

The expression of an oncostatin M transgene in the early T cell lineage stimulates the accumulation of mature and immature T cells in lymph nodes. This thymus-independent pathway of T-cell development helps in T-cell immunodeficiency. The administration of oncostatin M protein stimulates a 500-fold increase in Thy-1+ lymph node cells, and restores immune responsiveness in transgenic and non-transgenic mice.

TACI and BCMA are receptors for a TNF homologue implicated in B-cell autoimmune disease

Article Abstract:

A new study identifies two receptors for the tumour necrosis factor zTnF4 and establishes a link between zTNF4 and autoimmune disease. TaCI-Ig is identified as a possible treatment for human autoimmune disease.
