Single-exciton optical gain in semiconductor nanocrystals

Article Abstract:

A practical approach is described for obtaining optical gain in the single-exciton regime that eliminates the problem of Auger decay. The imbalance between negative and positive charges has produced a strong local electric field, which has induced a giant transient Stark shift of the absorption spectrum with respect to the luminescence line of singly excited nanocrystals, thus demonstrating optical amplification due to single excitons.

Energy-transfer pumping of semiconductor nanocrystals using an epitaxial quantum well

Article Abstract:

An approach to nanocrystal-based, electrically pumped light-emitting devices uses hybrid organic or inorganic structures, in which charges are delivered to nanocrystals through the organic crystals is described. The consideration indicates the possibility of efficiency, electrically driven, hybrid nanocrystals or quantum-well devices.
