Structural insights into mRNA recognition from a PIWI domain-siRNA guide complex

Article Abstract:

The crystal structure of a Piwi protein from Archaeoglobus fulgidus (AfPiwi) in complex with a small interfering RNA (siRNA)-like duplex, which mimics the 5' end of a guide RNA strand bound to an overhanging target messenger RNA is studied. The result provide insights into mechanism of target mRNA recognition and cleavage by an Argonaute-siRNA guide complex.

Redox regulation of protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B involves a sulphenyl-amide intermediate

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on redox-dependent regulation of protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B. The structural analysis of this regulation has been carried out, and the suthors suggest that the modification of this protein protects the active-site cysteine residue of protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B from oxidation to sulphonic acid.

Oxidation state of the active-site cysteine in protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B which is important for the negative regulation of insulin receptors. The authors have investigated the crystal structures of the regulatory sulphenic and irreversible sulphinic and sulfonic acids of this phosphatase, and report the results.
