Crystal structure of the nuclear Ras-related protein Ran in its GDP-bound form

Article Abstract:

The Ran proteins function as molecular switches cycling between the GDP-bound 'off' states and the GTP-bound 'on' states. These proteins belong a special family of the superfamily of Ras-related GTP-binding proteins. The nucleus of the eukaryotic cells and the cells involved in cell cycle progression have these Ran proteins.
