Structure prediction for the down state of a potassium channel voltage sensor

Article Abstract:

The conditional lethal/second-site suppressor yeast screens are used to determine the transmembrane packing of the voltage-sensing domain (VSD) in the down state of the potassium channel voltage sensor. The comparison of the down state model with the up state voltage-gated potassium 1.2 (Kv1.2) structure has indicated that the VSDs undergo large rearrangements during gating, whereas the fourth transmembrane segment (S4) segment has remained positioned between the central pore and the remainder of the VSD in both states.

The tumour suppressor Hippo acts with the NDR kinases in dendritic tiling and maintenance

Article Abstract:

A report that the other NDR family kinase, the tumour suppressor Warts/ Lats (Wts), regulates the maintenance of dendrites is presented. Biochemical and genetic evidence for the tumour suppressor kinase Hippi (Hpo) as an upstream regulator of Wts and Trc for dendritic maintenance and tiling, respectively, thereby revealing important functions of tumour suppressor genes of the Hpo singnalling pathway in dendrite morphogenesis are provided.

The hippo hypothesis

Article Abstract:

Imaginal discs are packets of cellular monolayers that are set-aside during larval development and differentiate during metamorphosis to give rise to most of the tissues of the adult fly. The role of hippo in coupling proliferation to apoptosis evolutionarily conserved, investigated whether the human Mst2 protein could restore the status quo to fruitlies that lack Hippo.
