The N-end rule pathway as a nitric oxide sensor controlling the levels of multiple regulators

Article Abstract:

The arginylation branch of the N-end rule pathway as a new sensor of nitric oxide (NO) in mammalian cells that functions through its ability to destroy specific regulatory proteins bearing N-terminal Cys, at rates controlled by NO and apparently by oxygen as well is identified. Three amino (N)-terminal residues, aspartate, glutamate and cysteine are arginylated by ATE1-encoded aringyl-transferases.

Prediction of auditory spatial activity from neural images on the owl's auditory space map

Article Abstract:

The authors discuss the study of auditory space map of the barn owl midbrain. They describe the relationship between perceptual activity and neuronal activity in the auditory space map, and report that the pattern activity change can predict the ability of the owl to detect the source location change.

Optional neural population coding of an auditory spatial cue

Article Abstract:

The optimal coding strategy for ITD depends on head size and sound frequency. Many vertebrate use ITD's to localize sounds in the horizontal plane.
