The lights in the forest

Article Abstract:

The future of 580,000 square miles of rain forest around the Congo River in central Africa is uncertain as political instability and rebel intrusions threaten these fragile ecosystems. The number of guards able to protect the forest and conservation reserves from local and foreign exploitation have dwindled because of lack of financial support from the African governments. Environmental protection of central Africa should be addressed at the international level.
