Turner's trinity

Article Abstract:

Artist J.M.W. Turner is regarded as the leading exponent of Romanticism in British art. Against this background, it is surprising that he was also very interested in scientific theory. He spent a great deal of time preparing for his lectures as professor of perspective at the Royal Academy, and was well aware that each portion of space depicted in perspective was a tiny part of an infinite whole. He had the ability to present scientific awe and poetic melancholy as a single concept.

Fremiet's frenzy

Article Abstract:

Sculptor Emmanuel Fremiet's work was an important source of palatable information about scientific concepts in the nineteenth century. His natural history sculptures featuring animals and human beings are situated at museum Jardin des Plantes, Paris, France. Scientific principles should be reflected in public knowledge. Fremiet's work, and the work of other artists, should not be underrated.
