An animal welfare activist recalls with shame her past when she proudly colleted items made of animal parts and ate meat. Aside from the cruelty inflicted on animals, people all over the world should be made aware of the health benefits of refraining from consuming animal meat and milk.

The success of rescuing circus animals largely depends on public participation. The public should help in the education of those who promote the circus and those who attend it about the harsh conditions and sufferings of the animals used in the circus.

Issues are presented concerning the policy of the Austrian government to ban the use of elephants from circuses by 2005. The policy of other countries around the world towards the use of circus animals is discussed.
