Article Abstract:
The concept of friendship was tackled in the opening scene of the movie 'The Godfather' in which Mafia don Vito Corleone demands the respect and allegiance of an undertaker who went to him to seek justice for his daughter who was mauled by two youths. Don Corleone promised to grant the undertaker's request without asking for anything in return after the latter agreed to accept his friendship. This politics of friendship, which was evident in classical Rome and Greece, is characterized by temporary, contractual relationships and is therefore defective.

Article Abstract:
There are about 180 Cafes Scientifiques worldwide which are a friendly meeting ground for scientists and the public to discuss scientific matters that concern everyone. Such cafes indicate the changing relationship between the scientists and the public and also, it is way of engaging both in open dialog.
