NABARD INTRODUCES FLEXI-CREDIT FOR HOMESTEAD FARMING
Article Abstract:
A new credit scheme called FlexiCredit has been launched by the National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Credit (Nabard). The scheme is aimed at meeting the multiple credit needs of homestead farmers. The scheme will be initially launched in the districts of Kollam, Kozhikode and Kannur in Kerala. The scheme will cater to the total financing needs of the homestead farm, offer block capital rate and working capital. Nabard will offer the loan based on the eligibility factor which includes proposed activity and land holding. FlexiCredit aims at maximising the use of available family labour and developing an integrated business enterprise at the micro level. Initially, only land based operations and allied activities such as dairy, poultry and animal husbandry will be covered. (ag)(vr)

NABARD PUMPS IN Rs482 CRORE FOR RURAL DEVELOPMENT

Gujarat has received Rs481.99 crore from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) during the past 4 years from the rural infrastructure development fund (RIDF). The funds have been offered for financing medium and minor irrigation, soil conservation, watershed management and rural roads projects. RIDF-I received Rs141.49 crore for irrigation projects while RIDF-II received Rs73.378 crore for irrigation projects and Rs56.25 crore for rural roads projects. RIDF-III has received Rs54 crore for rural roads projects, Rs27 crore for flood-damaged rural roads repairs and Rs11.24 crore for salinity ingress prevention projects. In August 1998, Nabard provided Rs50.274 crore for 3 irrigation projects in the 3 districts of Junagadh, Rajkot and Jamnagar. (ag)

NABARD DISBURSALS INCREASE BY 8%
Article Abstract:
The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has recorded an 8.12 percent increase in disbursals in 1997-98. Its total disbursals is estimated at Rs11,265 crore (Rs10,419 crore). Nabard provided Rs3,922 crore under investment credit (Rs3,523 crore). Refinance provided to cooperative banks and RRBs increased to Rs5,233 crore (Rs4,839 crore). As on March 31, 1998, Nabard has disbursed Rs2,484 crore to state governments under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund. The total resources of the bank have increased to Rs25,207 crore. (vv)
