Tribune plans to merge papers
Article Abstract:
Greensburg, PA-based Tribune-Review Publishing Co. is merging the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review and the North Hills News Record under the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review/North Hills News Record. The consolidation is part of an ongoing plan to challenge the Post-Gazette's position in the suburban markets and corner the metropolitan area. The News Record was acquired by the Tribune-Review Publishing in December 1997. For companies who depended on the News Record, the move may mean higher advertising rates, according to Michael Monsour, president of media buying firm Market Place Print.
