Article Abstract:
Pilgrim, Baxter and Associates' PBGH Growth Fund (Wayne, PA) has been losing money in the Jan-Jun 1999 period, and other Pilgrim Baxter funds have been posting lackluster results. Pilgrim Baxter's parent, United Asset Management (Boston, MA) is said to be eager to sell the faltering asset management firm. Analysts say Pilgrim Baxter may have grown too large to invest effectively. Company founder Gary Pilgrim says the firm's situation is less dire than analysts are saying.
