Fisher wants trustee to watch AGH endowments
Article Abstract:
Allegheny General Hospital (AGH), a part of Allegheny Health Education and Research Foundation (AHERF), was petitioned by State Attorney General Mike Fisher to have its assets managed by a trustee in part to protect the hospital from being pulled into bankruptcy by creditors of its bankrupt parent foundation. The move, according to Fisher's press secretary, would protect the hospital's assets from being sold to pay creditors of AHERF. The petition is also seeking expulsion of AGH directors who also serve as directors of AHERF or its Eastern affiliates on grounds that they are also involved in the mission to satisfy creditors.

Academic partners are scarce for Tenet
Article Abstract:
Tenet Healthcare Corp. is having no luck in its search of an academic partner for its planned $345-million acquisition of Allegheny Health Education and Research Foundation (AHERF). Tenet is seeking for an academic partner, which would be tasked to operate Allegheny University of the Health Sciences, the non-profit academic hub for AHERF's hospitals in Philadelphia, PA. Without an academic partner, Tenet would drop its proposed acquisition of the hospitals, according to a Tenet official. Tenet made an offer to Drexel University to run the schools, but the offer was declined.
