Fort Washington, Penn.-based CDNow Inc., which is an online music retailer with 400 employees, has cut costs by $12 million. PC Data Online reported that CDNow's Web site had a total of 8.2 million visitors in February 2000.

Shareholders OK merger of Internet music retailers

Online music retailers, CDnow Inc (Fort Washington, PA) and N2K (New York) merged forming a new company under the name of CDnow Inc. Shareholders gave the green light for the merger of the two rivals making them more competitive with other online music retailers including mega-giant Amazon.com. The new company's headquarters will be in New York using N2K's industry ties, with Jason Olim of CDnow Inc. continuing on as CEO and president of the new company.
