Monsanto ordered to pay Pa. damages; a jury awarded the state $90 million for PCB contamination of offices. The firm plans to appeal
Article Abstract:
After a fire in the state's DOT building in 1994, it was determined that PCB levels were too high to keep the building in use. It was demolished. The state then sued Monsanto for more than $200 million because of the contamination. A jury awarded the state a $90 million verdict which Monsanto says it will appeal.

Groups vow a fight if city schools seek privatization

Edison Schools Inc. has been hired by Pennsylvania to develop a plan to rescue the financially troubled Philadelphia School District. The move has prompted parent and community groups to rally against the possibility that the largest private operator of public schools could end up running the Philadelphia Public Schools.
