Nabisco puts word in for employees

Nabisco, a New Jersey-based food giant, asked Pittsburgh, PA, businesses to take in 350 employees it will lay off when its East Liberty bakery is permanently shut down in November 1998. The company made the appeal in a full-page paid advertisements to inform Sunday newspaper readers. Hank Sandbach, Nabisco's spokesman, said the firm will also hold job fairs at the plant and contact employers. Nabisco is presently talking with the bakery's two unions, Operating Engineers Local 95 and Bakery Confectionery and Tobacco Workers Local 12, regarding severance packages.

Software firm building new headquarters
Article Abstract:
Solutions Consulting Inc. plans to construct a new corporate headquarters in Southpointe, Washington County in Pennsylvania that will cost $10 million to build. The new office facility, which will be situated close to the software service firm's present leased office building, will break ground in November 1998 and will be finished by the fall of 1999. Incentives totaling over $1 million has been offered by the Administration of Pennsylvania Gov. Ridge to Solutions Consulting to build its new corporate home office in Southpointe.
