Student attitudes/employer needs
Article Abstract:
Students and employers are adapting to different career expectations in a changing socio-economic environment. In a 1995 National Association of Colleges and Employers's Graduating Student & Alumni survey, 97% of students that colleges should promote career guidance services early. Graduate career counsellors report that despite developing an early focus, students require guidance on job search procedures such as resume writing, interviews, and networking. A 1996 Job Outlook survey outlines communication skills, teamwork, and positive attitude as the abilities employers seek in graduates.

Mentoring program brings benefits to students and employer
Article Abstract:
The Cedars-Sinai Youth Mentoring Program has proven to be an effective tool in helping indigent high school students and a cost-efficient apprenticeship strategy for medical centers and hospitals. It offers working and learning experiences to students by working side by side with mentors. Since 1992, 300 students from Fairfax High School have already participated in the program and 20 high school juniors were poised to start part-time jobs at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. It is offered in 14 hospitals nationwide.

Student jobs open front doors to careers
Article Abstract:
The rate of student employment during the school year is increasing greatly due to the increase in costs in higher education and living expenses. The work experience gained by the students during the school years helps them in getting jobs in the future and also increases their interest in careers. Their performance in finding a suitable job is increased as a result of internships. Work experience is always valuable in the job market. The academic persistence and attainment of a student is benefited by early employment.
