Crystal growth of potassium nitrate in a magnetic field of 80 kOe
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the crystal growth of KNO3 in a magnetic field of 80 kOe. The crystals supported a form of columns lying horizontal. The magnetic anisotropy was assumed to originate from the arrangement of benzene rings. Experimental results indicated that the KNO3 crystal grew as the magnetic alpha-axis was perpendicular to the direction of the magnetic field. Findings also showed the orientation of the benzophenone and trans-azobenzene crystals in the magnetic field.
