Hydrophobicity at small and large length scales
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze a theory of solvation of small and large apolar species in water. The hydrogen bonding of water persisted in the solutes in the former and was depleted in the latter. Implications of the theory for crossovers about the stability of protein assemblies and protein folding were discussed. Results indicated that water may support an explicit function in such dynamics. Powerful hyrophobic forces of assembly can arise from drying transitions.

Third and fourth virial coefficients and the equation of state of hard prolate spherocylinders
Article Abstract:
The third and fourth virial coefficients of hard prolate spherocylinders, the frequently used hard body model of nonspherical molecules, are discussed using the self-consistency conditions. The equation of state (EOS) for pure hard spheres reduces to the Carnahan-Starling form and for hard sphere mixtures it differs slightly from the BMCSL expression.
