Optical properties of Si-Ge semiconductor nano-onions
Article Abstract:
The optical properties of Si-Ge semiconductor nano-onions have been studied. Nano-onions are core shell nanocrystals with semiconductor cores surrounded by a shell of different and epitaxially matched semiconductors. In the Si-Ge semiconductor, epitaxial matching produces a Si layer around Ge core resulting in a quantum well made of Ge. The electron hole pair is confined within the quantum well leading to better luminescence. Maintaining the Ge and Si lattice constants will produce the biggest band gap.

Effects of molecular doping by hydroquinones on morphology and optical properties of polyaniline
Article Abstract:
The effects of molecular doping by hydroquinones on the morphology and optical properties of polyaniline were investigated. Thin films of the emeraldine base form of polyaniline consisting of different forms of hydroquinones were synthesized from the solutions of emeraldine base/tetrafluorohydroquinone(sub 1,2,3) in N-methylpyrrolidinone. The properties of the hydroquinones were examined using optical micrography, ultraviolet-vis and infrared absorption spectroscopy.

Vertical positioning of internal molecular scaffolding within a single molecular layer
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the vertical positioning of internal molecular scaffolding within a single molecular layer. Experimental results indicated that systematic variation in polymer backbone position produced high-quality monolayer structures supporting long-range order. In addition, the formation of molecular scaffolding supported a considerable level of control over the chemical and physical characteristics of the interfacial region.
