Excited-state structure and dynamics in FMO antenna complexes from photosynthetic green sulfur bacteria
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine the simulation of absorbance difference spectra of the singlet excited states of the Fenna-Matthews-Olson (FMO) complexes from the green sulfur bacteria Prosthecochloris aestuarii and Chlorobium tepidum using the exciton theory. Substantial differences between the spectra corresponding to the different steps in the relaxation process were observed. Results derived by pump-probe measurements at low temperature are in good agreement with the experimental spectra.

Self-assembled monolayers on gold of thiols incorporating conjugated terminal groups
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to characterize the synthesis of thiols 3, 6, and 14 supporting terminal conjugated arenes that spontaneously self-assembly on polycrystalline gold to establish monolayers. The Bioanalytical Systems BAS100/W electrochemical analyzer was utilized to carry out cyclic voltammetry while gold surfaces for monolayer formation were determined on a test grade silicon wafer. Results indicated that the self-assembled monolayers of thiols 6 and 14 support stabilizing forces.
