Sensitized and intrinsic in-plane photocurrents in Langmuir-Blodgett film of 7-(2-anthryl)-1-heptanoic acid
Article Abstract:
The photoconductive properties of a surface active anthracene derivative incorporated in an anisotropic Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) film are analyzed to determine the extent the photoconductivity can be extrapolated to LB-films of 2A7. To achieve this, information was gathered regarding the charge generation and recombination mechanism of nonsensitized in-plane photocurrents on variation of several experimental parameters. Further, the generation of photosensitized hole currents in the 2A7 multilayer was examined by placing amphiphilic rhodamine derivative and arachidic acid on top of the 2A7 multilayers. The results are discussed.

pH-dependent photoinduced electron transfer at C(sub 60)-EDTA Langmuir-Blodgett film modified ITO electrode
Article Abstract:
Monolayer and multilayer modified semiconductor ITO electrodes with amphiphilic C(sub 60)-EDTA derivatives and photo-driven electron transfer at the electrode-electrolyte interface are investigated. Amphiphilic C(sub 60)-EDTA derivatives can form stable monolayer at the air-water interface and the monolayer can be deposited onto an ITO substrate. Multiple deposition to form a stack of monolayers is facile when the number of layer is below 7. The direction of electron flow in the C(sub 60)EA-ITO-electrolyte system can be modulated by the pH in the solution.

Dynamic-field-induced oscillatory dc current in colloidal crystallite
Article Abstract:
Colloidal crystals have vast potentials as technological materials. Scientific investigations were performed to examine the impact of oscillatory mechanical field on colloidal crystals. The one-dimensional variable range hopping conductivity model was applied on the crystal samples which were composed of monodispersed hard spheres suspended in insulating oil. It was observed that fluctuations in direct current were common in colloidal crystals. Moreover, fibrillated chain crystals were formed when the samples were exposed to an electric field.
