Unusual solubilization behavior of a maleic acid-hexyl vinyl ether copolymer
Article Abstract:
Polysoaps are polyelectrolytes whose micelles can improve the solubility of sparingly soluble organic compounds. Experiments were performed to examine the behavior of a polysoap composed of maleic acid-hexyl vinyl ether copolymers under a LiCl solvent at various pH levels. The polysoap were also tested under a 0.1 M tetramethylammonium chloride (TMACl) solvent. The polysoap in LiCl exhibited insensitivity and sensitivity to micelle formation, whereas the behavior of the polysoap in the TMACl followed macromolecular biological patterns.

Comparison of the solubility of PVF and PVDF in supercritical CH2F2 and CO2 and in CO2 with acetone, dimethyl ether, and ethanol
Article Abstract:
A study presents cloud-point data for two fluoropolymers, namely, polyvinyl fluoride in CH2F2 and for polyvinylidene fluoride in CO2, with three different cosolvents, namely, acetone, dimethyl ether and ethanol. Results show that acetone is a better cosolvent than dimethyl ether for both fluoropolymers. Ethanol is a good cosolvent but acts as an antisolvent at high solution concentrations and low temperatures. Other results of the study are presented.

The influence of flexible segments on liquid crystalline properties in terms of solubility parameters: An attempt at quantitative interpretation
Article Abstract:
The phase behavior of some block molecules is studied with reference to the polarity of constituent segments. It was found that the ability of mesophase formation is connected with differences in polar character between the flexible chains and rigid cores.
