Light-induced redox reactions in nanocrystalline systems
Article Abstract:
Examination of optical and electronic properties of colloidal semiconductor solution and nanocrystalline films helps understand the factors regulating the electron transfer reactions. Different procedures help prepare nanocrystalline TiO2 films. A suggested mechanism accounts for the high stability and high efficiencies of the dye-sensitized nanocrystalline solar cells. Trap filling in the semiconductor materials increases the charge transport through the colloidal TiO2 film.

Water-splitting chemistry of photosystem II
Article Abstract:
A great number of different sorts of experiments directed both at the protein and at model metal complexes were researched to understand the water-splitting chemistry of PSII. The findings indicate that the substrate water are incorporated into the oxygen-evolving complex of photosystem II (OEC) as terminal ligands not as [mu]-oxo ligands, up through the [S.sub.3] state.

Static and dynamic electronic spectroscopy at liquid interfaces
Article Abstract:
The progress made in the application of electronic spectroscopy to liquid interfaces is reviewed. The unique properties of the liquid interface region have a marked signature on the electronic absorption spectra and solvation dynamics of adsorbed dye molecules.
