Modeling of surface processes as exemplified by hydrocarbon reactions
Article Abstract:
The concept of potential energy surface molecular dynamics simulation of surface reactions gives a good estimate of Brenner CH potential. Hydrocarbon adsorption on platinum surface is discussed as an example. The various types of surface reactions discussed include adsorption, etching, surface reactions, surface-induced dissociation, sputtering, and friction. The reaction probabilities can be calculated using an accurate interaction potential.

Ultrafast dynamics of photochromic systems
Article Abstract:
This review examines the photochromic systems vis-a-vis temporal response as revealed by ultrafast laser spectroscopy. Four systems consisting of azobenzenes, spiropyrans, fulgides, and diarylethenes are described with reference to their unique photochromic dynamics such as isomerization, bond cleavage, and electrocyclic reactions.
