Curing the incurable
Article Abstract:
Medical fraud has evolved into a more organized and specialized crime that targets the elderly. Aged people afflicted with incurable diseases are especially susceptible to miracle cures and devices, which may be more hazardous than beneficial to their health. Studies show that elderly Americans spend around $10 billion on fraudulent health products. Efforts by federal agencies to protect consumers are negated by the persistence of medical swindlers who continue to defy the law and victimize the elderly.
