MB roof helps engineer train station route to museum

Article Abstract:

HNTB Corp of Kansas City, MO, used two separate roof assemblies for the renovation of Kansas City's Union Station, which is set to reopen as a fusion of a hands-on science museum and Amtrak trains. The first roofing system is made up of a tapering and ornate glass-fiber reinforced concrete to shield the facility from adverse weather conditions as well as for aesthetic purposes. Roofing also involves a second assembly using a two- ply, APP modified bitumen material.
