CA Governor vetoes Internet tax bill
Article Abstract:
California Gov Gray Davis rejected a bill that would require online retailers to collect taxes on their sales even if they do not have any physical presence in the state. The legislation, which was strongly opposed by direct marketers, would require retailers doing business in the state to collect taxes even if the orders are coursed electronically. Davis was expected to veto the bill since he was on record generally opposed to Internet taxation.
