Bill Robinson is a man on the move
Article Abstract:
Revenge Marine, the boat business of Oklahoma financier William Robinson, is targeting the assets of Egg Harbor Yachts, the defunct New Jersey powerboat maker that Robinson previously owned. The company is also completing a $5.5 million deal for Blackfin Yachts, which Robinson also owned in 1997 before it went into bankruptcy court. The moves are part of the new company's effort to acquire manufacturers and line up exclusive dealers to become a major player in the industry. Robinson, who began negotiating with Detroit Diesel Corp. for Blackfin in summer of 1998, refused to specify the amount of the deal, stating that the financing came from private sources.

Hatteras drops Allied, deals Florida rights to MarineMax
Article Abstract:
Genmar Holdings Inc.'s Hatteras Yacht division ended its long-standing relationship with Florida-based Allied Marine Group when it granted dealership rights to MarineMax Incorporated. Allied reportedly refused to sign a dealership contract over differences of opinion on several issues, thus prompting Hatteras to sign up another company. Officials at Genmar, meanwhile, declined to comment on the reasons for the switch. MarineMax, which is acquiring boat dealerships across the US, may consider handling Hatteras outside its Florida territory where there is currently no Hatteras dealer in place.
